For my second blog post, I will be writing about the problems in my community that are impacting my life. These issues are hindrances in my everyday life, and have even prevented me from going out and doing the things that I wish to do. All of these issues affect my experience as a student here at SDSU.
The first problem, and the most prominent problem for me, is managing my stress and not getting overwhelmed by all of the pieces. Burnout is an issue that I have struggled with for many years, and have slowly but surely worked on ways to prevent myself from reaching that point. This is not just an issue for myself; this is a common issue for millions of college students every year. Managing all of the moving factors on your own for the first time typically causes a lot of stress for these students, and if they reach burnout, they dig themselves into a deeper hole. Developing techniques to wind yourself down to a healthy stress level is gonna be an important part of getting through college.

Another problem that has been affecting my life is balancing all of the expenses that I have, such as tuition and living expenses. Balancing both paying off the large amount of tuition debt that I currently have, and the expenses that come with everyday life, has proven to be a major factor in the decisions that I make. This constant worry for how to balance the all-important topic of finances has consistently proven to be a reoccurring problem and issue interfering with my academic life on campus. Something that has helped me slowly tackle and fix this issue has been regularly tracking and budgeting where my money is going, as having a close eye on where your money is going helps you stay on top of these expenses.

The final issue that has repeatedly been an issue in my life is balancing both academic and social lives. There have been multiple occasions where I have had to prioritize one over the other, when both are important to me to maintain. While having a good academic life provides many benefits, having a good social life on top of it is important to your health and mental wellbeing. This repeated dilemma of picking one value over the other has stirred up some problems in my life on campus, and prioritizing which choice to make is a skill everyone should learn.
